JNV Bundi sends 44 students to IITs

Class 12 students of the Union-government run Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya (JNV) Bundi have proved their mettle in the JEE Advanced 2017 again.

With the help of free coaching by Resonance coaching institute of Kota, 44 of the total 49 Class 12 students of the residential school have cracked the examination, considered as one of the toughest in the country.

Coming from rural backgrounds and poor families, these students have proved that they were no less in any way than the private school students whose parents spend lakhs on their coaching to pass the entrance examination.

In the last seven years, more than 250 students of the JNV Bundi have found place in the IITs, thanks to help from Resonance Eduventures Limited, a coaching institute of Kota, and Dakshina Foundation, an NGO.

“Free schooling, accommodation and meals are provided to students of weaker families at JNV Bundi. Apart from this, free coaching is also offered by a Kota-based coaching institute to help us succeed in JEE Advanced,” said Nirmal Rajput (17), son of a mini-truck driver from Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) and a Class 12 student at JNV Bundi, who cleared the JEE Advanced 2017 with All India Rank (AIR) 327.

His father, Dinesh Singh Rajput said, “Qualifying JEE Advanced is a major challenge and when so many aspirants from poor and rural background crack JEE Advanced from a single school then it is certainly a great achievement.”

Another JNV Bundi student Amarpreet Singh (18) said, “We have made it to the IIT due to free coaching, otherwise it is not possible for students like me to crack JEE Advanced.” Amarpreet’s father runs a small handloom shop in Karnal (Haryana).

JNV Bundi principal Suresh Maheshwari is obviously elated over the performance of his students. “Out of the 49 students in Class 12, who were given free coaching, 44 students have cracked JEE Advanced 2017, which is 90% success,” he said. The school, which runs classes from Class 6 to 12, has enrolled 590 students this year.

RK Verma, managing director, Resonance Eduventures Limited, Kota, said that his organisation and Dakshina Foundation equally share the fee burden under their corporate social responsibility to provide free coaching to the students.

JEE Advanced 2017: Jammu & Kashmir posted CRPF Jawan’s son ranked AIR 6

When Sourav Yadav’s father got posted in Jammu & Kashmir, his mother decided to shift to Kota from Haryana leaving behind her job for better studies options for her son. Sourav didn’t disappoint them. He scored 330 marks out of 366 in JEE Advanced 2017 and secured All India Rank (AIR) 6.

Hailing from a small town in Bhiwani district, Haryana, Sourav got to know about engineering when he came to Kota. During his secondary (Class 10) examination he enrolled in the Resonance Coaching institute, Kota. His mother was keen on providing better education for her son and left her job as a school teacher in Haryana to accompany him for his studies. “My father doesn’t get much time to accompany us as he is posted in Jammu & Kashmir where tension escalates every now and then. My mother is the strongest pillar of my success in JEE Advanced 2017,” said Sourav. The intelligent lad loves home-cooked food and staying away from his mother’s ‘Haath ka Khana‘ was too difficult for him. His mother, being a mother, knew that and decided to sacrifice her career for the better future of her son.

Sourav wants to take up Computer Science in IIT Bombay, which is a dream institute for any IIT aspirant. He is fond of video games and application software, and is interested in developing his own apps and software for the people. “I would like to learn the nuances of Computer Science and develop something on my own. The urge to take up Computer Science as a career option came to me while I saw my maternal uncle, who is a software engineer working on interesting projects. He motivated me to take up engineering as well,” informed Sourav.

Although, Sourabh had secured AIR 108 in JEE Main, he never gave prominence to rankings as such. “I was concerned about the percentage marks I score in any examination. Ranks will follow it’s course. By doing that I have always remained immune from the extra pressure that students often take while writing an important exam,” said Sourav.

Topping one of the toughest entrance examination in the country came naturally to this youngster as he was preparing for the advance level exam even before JEE Mains. “I prepared myself from the very beginning for JEE Advanced. I used to self-analyse my problem areas and work on those from time to time,” concluded Sourav.

Resonance Student Yash Sanjeev representing INDIA in IMO 2017

“The key to success is to hard work and to believe in yourself and your teachers…”

The above lines are very beautifully quoted by a simple boy from Lucknow who joined Resonance, Kota in the year 2016 for whom success became a habit. His dream didn’t become a reality through magic; it took sweat, determination and hard work. He understood the value of hard work and made his mark and will be soon representing India in International Mathematical Olympiad 2017 to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The boy originating from a middle class family where father is employed as a Chief Manager at state Bank of India and mother is a housewife. He had cherished the same dream as other students who come to Kota, an Education hub seeking their future in Engineering and Medical Education.

“I think the best word that describes Resonance is excellence. With an amazing staff Resonance provides not only really interactive and high quality classes with well-prepared teachers. They truly make you have your best life experience.”

He recalls back the time when he decided to study at Resonance which helped him in acquiring a lot of confidence and moral values. Yash has always been eager in learning a lot about mathematics. His keen interest in mathematics and trust over the faculties at Resonance attracted him to choose Resonance. He attended the camp organised by Resonance in the year 2015. He was impressed by the highly qualified staff of Resonance, especially SPS Sir who was able to satisfy all the questions asked by Yash in the various sessions of camp. RKV Sir, the Physics maestro is also the man who enthused him with competitive spirit and educative qualities. After seeing the calibre and undivided attention of Yash for studies, RK Verma Sir made sure that Yash is properly equipped by all the resources Yash require to achieve his dreams. He was also introduced to prodigy of mathematics at Reso Base, Karnataka. In totality it was a combined effort of Resonance which led to add on of so many achievements in the success diary of Yash.

The most important thing that he kept in mind while joining Resonance is the fact that he was not mediocre anymore. Hours needed for studying will be longer, assignments will be more difficult and time consuming, and faculty will expect a greater level of professionalism in home work and assignments.

He has an endless list of achievements which define his success, but few of his exemplary accomplishments are that he became an NTSE scholar in 2016, a KVPY scholar in 2017, qualified INJSO in 2016, INAO in 2016, RMO in 2015, NSEP and NSEA in 2017.

Yash has always been inspired by the gifts scientists have given us in the form of many researches. He feels that in the day to day hustle of our busy lives full of research, formulae, etc. we often forget to think about those who walked this road before us and created many of the techniques we use. Without their contributions, it’s difficult to imagine where we would be. With that said, he wants to become a Theoretical Physicist and Mathematician and this is his way of giving thanks and showing appreciation to all those who came before us in the field of science and to help inspire other people out there trying to do great things now.

He likes playing football and has a lot of interest in outdoor games. He has a message for all the students who are focusing for IMO that though unlike other subjects Olympiad there is no intersection between the course of Mathematics Olympiad and IIT syllabus, one should not give up and practice from low difficulty level questions to high difficulty level questions.

Resonance wishes him all the luck for his future endeavors.
