NEET 2017 Update: Candidates to be allowed maximum 3 attempts, upper age limit set at 25

The maximum age limit for NEET candidates will be 25 years while the minimum age for NEET candidates will be 17 years. Details will be available soon at AIPMT NEET 2017 official website aipmt.nic.in.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that the age limit for NEET candidates will be 25 at the meeting held yesterday. The minimum age for NEET candidates will be 17 years.  The maximum age is 30 years for the Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe/ Other Backward category. It has also been decided that the NEET aspirants for MBBS and BDS programme will be allowed a maximum of 3 attempts. Apparently this decision has been taken so that the coaching centres do not to understand the altering pattern of the exam. Once the official notification of NEET UG 2017 is released at the official website of AIPMT NEET aipmt.nic.in, the eligibility criteria will become clearer.

The NEET exam is conducted for admission into 15% seats in government medical and dental colleges and in all private medical and dental colleges all over India except Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, The total numbers of seats offered under NEET are 53,430 which are distributed accordingly. For all private colleges there will be approximately 25,840 seats, for government colleges there are 27, 590 while under NEET counseling seats it is expected that there will be 3521 seats while on NEET basis seats there are 35,461 seats.

Candidates who are declared qualified/Eligible for All India Quota Undergraduate seats MBBS/BDS) only will be eligible for online allotment process for All India Quota Seats which is conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Government of India. Aspirants must keep in mind that the official notification will be out on the official website of AIPMT.
