JEE Advanced 2016 to be conducted on May 22, no changes in boards marks weightage.

Putting an end to the confusion of students amid the speculation of major changes, IIT to continue with their existing pattern of the two-tier selection process. IIT JEE Advanced is going to be held on May 22, 2016.  However, this time the 2 lakh students will be able to sit for the exam as against 1.5 lakh for the upcoming year. IIT Guwahati will be conducting the JEE Advanced 2016.

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has decided to continue with the existing pattern of boards marks as well. Like every year, 40 per cent weight will be given to board marks and 60 per cent to the JEE-Main score. The eligibility criteria will also remain same for the students, although, those students who have already accepted any of the seats in any of the IITs or ISM in 2015 will not be allowed for the JEE Advanced in 2016. 1) I have taken admission into one of the NITs in 2015. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2016?

Yes. Candidates who have taken admissions in NITs in 2015 are also eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2016, if they satisfy all other eligibility criteria given here.

JEE Advanced 2016 Website Launched. Guwahati will be the responsible IIT.

Website for JEE Advanced 2016 has been launched on Thursday, 22nd October. This year, IIT Guwahati has been given the responsibility to conduct this prestigious engineering entrance exam. The date of the exam has not been declared yet but it is announced that this year too, the exam will be having 2 papers of 3 hours each. The timing of these papers will be 9 AM to 12 PM and then 2 PM to 5 PM. Earlier, there were proposals for single exam and single rank for admission in IIT’s and NIT’s but it is mostly unlikely to happen in this session. Still the final decision is yet to be taken by the committee.

Certain eligibility criteria announced on JEE Advanced 2016 website are as follows:

Criterion 1 – Age limit.

The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1991 if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category and on or after October 1, 1986 if belonging to the SC, ST or PwD category.
