Our students will grab top ranks in JEE Main 2018: Kota coaching centres

Students in Kota are likely to get the top positions in the All-India Ranking of JEE Main 2018, the entrance test for admission in engineering colleges across the country, officials of coaching centres in the Rajasthan city said on Sunday ahead of the announcement of the result on Monday.

“Students from our institute are likely to dominate the JEE Mains 2018 ranking and results and we are hoping for top ranks for our students in Top 10 list,” director of Allen Career Institute Naveen Maheshwari said.

“At least two students from the coaching institutes in Kota are likely to grab the ranks in Top 5 merit list and at least four can get into the Top 10,” RK Verma of Resonance Eduventures Private Limited said.

Victorious moment for all 12 students who secured their positions in the Top 200 of JEE (Main) 2018. Heartiest congratulations to all of them

JEE-Main-2018-AIR-Top-200

The All-India Rank is used for admissions to National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI), Self-Financed Institutes (SFIs), and other institutes.

Nearly 12,00,000 students appeared for JEE Main 2018 offline as well as online exams conducted by the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) and only 220,000 will be eligible for the next phase of JEE Advanced for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other top engineering institutes.

There were nearly 9,800 aspirants who appeared in JEE Main 2018 across 18 exam centres in Kota on April 8.

The centres are making the claims after calculating the marks obtained by their students according to the answer key of the JEE Mains 2018 that was recently released by the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE). They say the topper is likely to score around 350 marks or above.

“One of our students has scored 350 marks out of 360 marks as per the answer key so he is likely to get a rank in the Top 5 but the exact rank cannot be calculated as we do not know the marks of every aspirant in the country,” Verma of the Resonance Coaching Institute said.

The officials also said that a large number of aspirants from Kota will clear JEE Mains 2018 and are likely to get ranks in Top 100 and Top 500.

Last year, two students each from Allen and Resonance figured in the Top 10 list. Kalpit Veerwal of Resonance’s Udaipur branch clinched the All India Rank 1 by scoring 100% marks. The coaching institutes said in 2017 over 39,000 of their students cleared JEE and that at least 48 of them were in AIR top 100.

Amit Ahuja, an academic counsellor at Allen, said JEE Mains 2018 participants who will score between 250 and 300 out of 360 marks are likely to get into the top National Institutes of Technology (NIT). He added that those with marks between 200 and 250 may get into the Indian Institutes of Information and Technology (IIITs).

Ahuja said the possibility of the bonus marks in JEE Mains 2018 is unlikely as the answer key released by the board was the same as that prepared by the coaching institutes.

Nearly 150,000 students from across the country enrol in the 40-odd coaching institutes in Kota, which is known as India’s coaching capital, every year to prepare for the highly competitive entrance examinations for different professional courses.

Kota’s coaching business runs into hundreds of crores of rupees and the centres are known to produce all-India toppers in most of the competitive exams.
