The twice-a-year JEE-Main exam plan of HRD ministry got a shot in the arm, as in the first two hours of registration on Saturday, 10,498 candidates filed applications.
The timings (January 2019) of the JEE-Main 1 is also a concern, as students will be preparing for their Class XII boards and appearing for the practical exams.
Along with JEE-Main 1, National Testing Agency (NTA) also started the registration for UGC-National Eligibility Test, and for booking practice sessions in one of the 2,697 test practice centres (TPCs).
According to NTA, in the first three hours, 6,942 candidates registered for NET and another 6,855 for TPC sessions. In fact, 2,733 candidates got their TPCs allotted as well, who can start practicing for JEE-Main exam between January 6 and 20 starting September 8, 2018.
“The free coaching facility for students will begin from next year, and not from September. For this year, aspirants can come to the centres and take the online practice test,” said a senior NTA official.
For the first time, both JEE-Main and UGC-NET will be held online. Also, the government has announced that in case, in the first attempt of JEE test an aspirant is not satisfied with the score or for some reason could not take the test, he/ she can take a retest in April.
Students interested to register for the practice test can register via mobile application or through official website. They can login using their google, Facebook ID or mobile numbers.
