Prakash Javadekar announces ‘No Change in Exam Pattern for JEE Advanced’

The 52nd meeting of the Council of IITs, chaired by MHRD Union Minister Prakash Javadekar was held on Monday in New Delhi. The consensus at the end of the meeting directed no changes to be introduced in the exam system of IIT JEE Advanced. Additionally, IIT-PAL will be made available on SWAYAM portal. The former is designed to help students prepare for JEE Advanced Exam.

The meeting also concluded that IITs will take the responsibility of mentoring a minimum of 5 engineering colleges located in a comfortable geographical vicinity. This will help improve the standard and quality of engineering education nationwide.

The committee also decided that there will be no revision for the undergraduate tuition fee of the IITs. As for the International students, the fee will be decided by the Board of Governors of individual IITs.

In a step towards encouraging innovation and enterprise, IITs will also be organizing annual Tech-Fests which will demonstrate innovations and technologies designed by their respective institutes. These will also include participation from leading CEOs of eminent public/private sector organizations.

The committee also addressed the issue of vacant seats in M.Tech programmes owing to the students joining Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) after being taken into the programmes. This will be discussed with CMDs of major PSUs under the chairmanship of MHRD.

A committee comprising of Directors from IIT Delhi, Hyderabad and Tirupati will be brought together to recommend standards and regulations regarding the construction of campuses and infrastructure projects.
