NEET 2019 might not be conducted twice a year, HRD ministry to take decision by next week

As earlier planned, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG (NEETUG) might not be conducted twice from the next year onwards i.e., 2019.

However, this isn’t confirmed — the HRD ministry is still likely to take a final decision by next week.

Earlier in a press conference, Javadekar stated that the newly-formed examination-conducting agency National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET), Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET).

NTA TO OVERTAKE CBSE

At present, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is responsible for organising JEE Mains and NEET examinations.

NTA will establish a network of test practice centres for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam,” a press realase by the HRD ministry said a while ago.

Further, the release added that schools/engineering colleges with computer centres would be identified and kept open on Saturday/Sunday starting from 3rd week of August.

  • Also, any student can use the facility free of charge, according to the ministry
  • Javadekar made the announcement that these examinations will be conducted on multiple dates.                                                                                                                                           “National level engineering examination JEE Main will be held in January and April while medical entrance examination NEET will be conducted in February and May,” said Javadekar.
