Though the SC order cancelled the stay imposed by Madras HC over NEET 2018 counselling in the grace marks row, a fresh order by Bombay High Court has again disrupted the counselling process. NEET counselling is expected to resume again after July 26 now on mcc.nic.in.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2018 Counselling schedule has been disrupted once again. This time around, it is due to a stay order issued by Bombay High Court. As per the information available on the official website mcc.nic.in, the NEET Counselling has been put in abeyance as per the orders of the High Court. The new stay came hours after the Supreme Court ruling which cancelled the Madras High Court stay in Grace Marks Row.
As per the information available on the website, the stay in counselling for medical and dental seats is as per the direction of Hon’ble High Court of Bombay Nagpur Bench in W.P. 3885/2018 and PIL No.87/2018. Though there is no clarity available on the MCC website, the said case numbers refer to a writ petition and a PIL, filed separately. The matter is apparently in regarding the reservation quota. The move came shortly after the reprieve (though shot lived) provided by Supreme Court in the Madras High Court Case.
The case was heard on July 19 in the court of Justices BP Dharmadhikari and ZA Haq. The next hearing the cases is scheduled for July 26. Though there are rumours of a possible request for the case to be heard ahead of the intended date, the same is not confirmed as yet. The counselling process for ESIC admissions under the 85% state quota and the 15% All India Quota (conducted by MCC) have been delayed until further judgement.
