JAIPUR: Following in his sister’s footsteps, Pawan Goyal too has attained remarkable success in JEE-Advanced within a gap of four years. Goyal moved to Kota after his class VIII with his mother Manju Goyal as his sister Shrishti wanted coaching for IIT from there. This was in 2012. Little did the brother know that he would end up performing better than his role model and elder sister Shrishti who scored AIR-54 in JEE-Advanced in 2014. This year Pawan Goyal came at number 4 in the same exam.
“The success of my sister inspired me to pursue engineering,” said an elated Goyal. Preparing for competitive exams at an early age requires time management and a lot of hard work. He was a school student during morning hours and coaching student from afternoon till evening. It took him four years of consistent 10-12 hours of study to script the success that he achieved on Sunday. “It doesn’t mean that I only studied in Kota. I played badminton every alternate day to keep fit and to stay away from stress. Maintaining a balance between education and sports is very important when you are appearing in the national-level exam,” said Goyal.
During the course of his major success, he attained several other successes—gold medal in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) in 2015-16, silver medal in International Physics Olympiad in 2017 and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) in 2017-18. “Each and every success in these competitions helped me inch closer to my main aim of JEE-Advanced. I advise NEET and JEE aspirants to take these competitions seriously. They shape the temperament for appearing and preparing for the exam,” said Goyal.
He owes his success to his mother who moved to an unknown city like Kota for building the career of her children. “She made a lot of sacrifices in her life for us. Living away from my father, family and relatives she had only one aim — to see us touching heights of success. She has equally prepared for the exam with us since 2012. Every day she would wake up much before us to prepare breakfast and would burn midnight oil with us to ensure that we study properly. I am happy that with my success, she has achieved her aim,” said Goyal, whose father works in a private company in Noida. He prepared from Resonance Pvt Eduventures, Kota.
