JEE Advanced 2018 Online Exam Screwed up? So say students

The JEE Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2 both were conducted successfully today on Sunday May 20, 2018. The exam is eligibility test for admission to IIT and other premium engineering institutions in India. This was the first time both JEE Advanced was conducted online.

Till last year JEE Advanced was held online as well as pen and paper based, and students were given option to select one. From this year however it was decided to conduct JEE Advanced fully online and computer based.

Though sources at IIT Kanpur, the authority to conduct JEE Advanced said the exam was conducted smoothly, there are reports from centers about a delay in issuing the Admit Card. There are reports also from some centers where exams started late because of power outage.

K G Vijayvargiya who uses Twitter handler @kgvijayreacted about JEE Advanced 2018 held today in these words. “It’s horrible situation at ion digital zone Peenya center at Bangalore for #JEEAdvanced . First paper still not finished. Second paper postponed to 4pm. How do you expect the student to give exams in such situations. Frequent power problems, network failure, lift got stuck”, he wrote.

Sai Sreekantt M, another student using Twotter handler @sreekantt1 said, “A scene from #JEEAdvanced exam today. Imagine writing a 6 hour long exam (supposed to be the most difficult test in the country) inside a room in the top floor of a building situated close to the main road with no fans in the hottest period of a year.”

Regarding difficulty level of the exam, some students said it was difficult however others said it was of easy to moderate level.

“Life is tough. JEE Advanced is tougher”, Deepanshu Yadav wrote on Twitter using @thepanshuyadav.

Other students however said, “Paper 1 was easy to moderate. Paper 2 was lengthy. Because of new pattern of questions introduced and multiple correct choice questions appearing in both papers scoring has to be lower than 2017.”

Some students highlighted errors in the paper. “Physics was comparatively easier in all three. Total 54 questions 180 maximum marks Three sections. Section 1 contained six more than one choice correct questions with partial marking and -2 on incorrect”, a student said.
