Tough paper, negative marking will affect results, say aspirants of JEE Advance-2018

Aspirants feel that in JEE Advance-2018 conducted on Sunday question in the Mathematics portion was tough while Physics and Chemistry were comparatively easy. Overall question paper was difficult. This year’s paper was tougher compared to 2017.

Both the colleges of Trinity engineering college, IES Engineering college and Hathway institute were examination centre of JEE Advance in Bhopal. An aspirant Raj Kumar said, “Many are disheartened. We feel that scoring could be difficult with negative marking. The variety of the integer-type questions has increased and this portion is posing difficulties for students.”

“Maths portion was difficult. Equal weightage was given to class XI & XII syllabus. The maximum marks of each paper have been reduced from 183 to 180. Neither the question paper booklet nor the copy of response sheet was given to students as exam was conducted in computer based mode,” P Remi said.

Biometric registration, verification

Earlier, the candidates were instructed to take their seat in the examination hall after biometric registration and verification by 7.45am for paper one and by 12.45pm for paper two. The exam was conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K).

Restricted items

The aspirants were not allowed to carry smart, digital, programmable watches, mobile phone, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands or any other electronic gadgets. They may, however, wear simple analog watches. Any printed, blank, handwritten paper, log table, writing pad, scale, geometry and pencil box, broach, hair pin, hair band, pouch, calculator, pen drives, electronic pens, wallet, handbags, goggles or similar things were not allowed inside the examination hall.

Clothes and accessories

Female candidates were not allowed to wear good luck charm items containing metal like rings, nose pins, earrings, chain, necklace, pendants, badges, brooch, hairpins or hair band. Clothes with full sleeves or with big buttons were not allowed.
Candidates were already instructed to come in open footwear like chappals (slippers) and sandals.
