JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20: Expected cut off marks and ranks for Top IITs

IIT Kanpur would be conducting the JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20. Here is a look at the expected cut off marks for the Top IITs and also the last year’s cut off ranks for top IITs.

 Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur would be conducting the JEE Advanced 2018 examination on May 20, 2018, which is this Sunday. As many as 2.33 lakh candidates qualified for the examination. For the first time, JEE Advanced, also called the IIT JEE (as it is the entrance tests for IITs), would be conducted in an online format which is a computer based test. Ahead of the examination, here is a look at the expected cut off for the Top IITs. Also provided is a tentative rank cut off for the Top IITs for the more famous courses.

Please note that the actual cut off may wary. Also, the higher the rank, the higher would be the chance of getting the course that you wish to take up. The most popular courses are Computer Engineering or Software Engineering followed by Electrical and Electronics. Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering are now among the lesser famous courses. Hence, the cut off varies considerably for these two disciplines.

The expected cut off is based on the past year trends and expert analysis of the probability of this year’s number of students who have registered. There is no extensive increase in the number of seats across the IITs. However, the number of students appearing for JEE Advanced has increased relatively over the years. Also, the ranks are for general or unreserved category. The range for SC, ST, and OBC category is a bit lower but about the same. They are, however, based on the rank list of that category.

The ranks would change. However, from the table above, it’s pretty simple. If you are aiming for the top 3 IITs, which are Madras, Bombay and Delhi, then you need to rank at the very top 150. Also, the ranks would vary and whether or not you get your seat depends on how high you are ranked. JEE Advanced would be conducted on May 20.
